We generally have some preconceived notions about some emotions .
In the sense that we consider some as bad and some as good.
For E.g :-
Anger, greed , fear are considered to be bad ,
Love is considered to be good.
But is this true.
According to me Emotion by themselves are not good or bad.
But how we use or react to them is good or bad.
Like Ghandiji was very angry when he was thrown out of the train
In
Greed of achieving something motivates us to move ahead.
Imagine if children did not fear their teachers a little or we did not fear the law
What a chaos it could be .
Similarly , love which is considered to be good in the movie DARR
Shahruk Khan because of love causes so many troubles.
So emotions by themselves are not good or bad,
But how we react to them matters

A nice way at looking at trivial things such as emotions. But, some points need to be considered before we come to a conclusion.
It is not only the emotions that are good or bad, their intensity and the situation determines their quality.
Eg. Anger to a certain point is perfectly ok. (As in case of Gandhiji:)) or anger in certain situations is justified. (as in, Dr. Ambedkar's anger towards prejudiced higher castes).
Actions, in my view, do not determine the quality of an emotion. Simply because action is something that "follows" and NOT something that "accompanies".
Action is how someone will react to an emotion and that is subjective. Even you will agree that the emotions (anger, greed, etc) can be defined pretty much objectively.
And as for your argument on greed, the argument about "situation" and "intensity" of an emotion ought to clear things up.
Ya Jitest very true that the intensity and the situation matters.
And as you said " action is something that follows. and NOT something that accompanies. "
So its in our hand to control the
action which follows the Emotion.
And not blame it on the Emotions .
Like we sometimes say " That i was angry so i said it i did not mean it "
This is blaming the Emotion and shifting resposibility and blame to the Emotion than ourselves.
Its we who take the action not our
emotions.
So Emotions by themselves are not good or bad
Assume that you are watching an India v/s Pakistan clash .. and India crashes to a embarrassing defeat.
Will you say that India played abysmally depending on how they react to the defeat ?? .. or how they played in the match?
thats what i meant when i said "something that follows, and not something that accompanies" ...
Although your viewpoint is correct that how we react to a situation is important, but, that determines whether YOU are good and bad. Someone may react to a bad emotion is a +ve manner. but will that change the nature of the emotion?
A criminal succumbs to his libido and rapes someone. But, later he repents it. So is "libido" now a good emotion? NO. because, as i said, actions are how humans react to emotions, they are not the touchstones for emotions!
